Have you heard? Cross Catholic Outreach is expanding its collaborative relationship with the Vatican’s own charity organization, the Pontifical Council Cor Unum. It’s an opportunity to work on a project selected by the Holy Father himself!
Over the years, Cross Catholic Outreach has enjoyed a close relationship with Cor Unum, and we have assisted with many of its emergency relief efforts worldwide. Because of that relationship, they’ve now asked us to collaborate with them on an ambitious project in Kenya. The plan is to help the Missionary Sisters of the Catechism build a clinic in an impoverished rural community that currently lacks well-equipped health facilities.
The families in the targeted community are very poor, suffer from inadequate sanitation and are at high risk of malaria. The planned construction site is also within close proximity of a number of schools, including a 700-student boarding school that will greatly benefit from having access to better medical services. When completed, the facility will provide emergency, maternity and in-patient services, as well as regular preventative care – all of which are crucially needed.
All of us at Cross Catholic Outreach are grateful for this special opportunity to collaborate with Cor Unum on this worthy effort. Please pray with us that God will make this vision for a new clinic a reality. Pray that Christ will use his Church to demonstrate the spirit of the Gospel to the poor in Kenya. We believe great things can be accomplished when God’s people join together in heart and mind to be an instrument of mercy to the world.
