As our neighbor to the south, Mexico holds a special place in our hearts. Working through some amazing Catholic ministry partners in the country, Cross Catholic Outreach is involved in variety of poverty relief projects, most of which are focused on leading impoverished children toward a better future.
Here are some of of the specific outreaches we empower in Mexico:
Tláhuac Home for Girls
Run by the Missionaries of Christ the King and the St. Mary Guadalupe Sisters, the Tláhuac Home for Girls is a safe-haven for children who come from impoverished homes in a rough district of Mexico City. At the boarding home, the girls are provided with daily meals, attend an on-site Catholic school and are introduced to the faith. With the help of our donors, Cross Catholic provides daily meals and funds teachers’ salaries. In Favor of the Child Catholic School
Cross Catholic Outreach collaborates with the school to provide daily meals and snacks to 250 poor children, who receive scholarships to attend the school. Run by Catholic lay missionaries, children receive top-notch academic preparation, medical and dental care, participate in extracurricular activities and Catholic spiritual formation.Santa Maria del Mexicano
The Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity runs a Catholic boarding school and a nursing home for elderly individuals who need special care. To keep this special ministry running strong, Cross Catholic funds nutritious meals for children and elderly residents, while also supporting Santa Maria del Mexicano’s Catholic school.Salesian Girls’ Homes
Located in the southern Mexico state of Chiapas, Cross Catholic Outreach supports three different girls’ homes run by the Salesian Sisters: Casa Hogar Copainala (ages 3-12), Casa Maria de Nazareth (preteens and teens) and Villa Mornese (teens and young women). These homes are giving poor and vulnerable girls with a safe place to call home while providing education and Catholic spiritual formation.
To make life better for orphans and vulnerable children, our goal is to provide quality Catholic education and job training and to support feeding programs providing adequate nutrition to children at risk for malnutrition. We are deeply grateful to all those who share our heart to help Mexico’s impoverished children, and we hope will continue to support those outreaches with your gifts and prayers!
